Tamara Garstin
Stewardship Manager
Tamara was born and raised on the ranch she runs with her Mother and Father, near Longview Alberta. She is the fourth generation and understands the legacy and responsibility of ranching in the foothills. Ranching is her true passion in life.
SALTS was of interest to Tamara as she has always had a strong passion for protecting our grasslands and soils. She has worked in every link in the beef industry chain and always found the hills and grasslands were calling her back home. To work with SALTS is to work at home.
Tamara went to travel the world, seeing agriculture on all but two of the globe’s continents before going to school at Olds College where she received her Diploma in Agricultural marketing. She then decided to continue and complete her Applied Bachelor of Science with a major in Agricultural Finance.
Her favourite job that stood out the most, was working for MNP where she completed assurance files and consulting files. It was there that she found her passion for helping family farms and ranches continue to operate through succession planning and financial consulting.
To work with SALTS is to help more ranches stay in the family and she is excited to help with the Stewardship, Monitoring and Conservation Easements. She is proud to be part of the important work being done by SALTS in collaboration with landowners who care deeply about the future of our region.
In her free time, Tamara volunteers for other non profit ranching boards and can be found learning about trial dogs and bridle bit horses.
